The laptop battery light keeps blinking amber in a continuous pattern. During this it doesn't charge but also doesn't discharge. Otherwise I am still able to use the laptop as per normal It's an Inspiron 14 5410, about 7 months old Diagnostics say the battery is fine and the the charger is detected as normal. 65w charger
Thanks. Check ALL the connections & wires first (alternator & batteries) -- clean & inspect. If it still comes on, have the alt tested and if you can, watch your batt voltage starting now so you can get a baseline of what's going on. Agreed, I would say 9 out of 10 times this is telling you your ALt on its way out.

- put the charger in, the orange light turns on for a split second, then dies off. Sometimes also the green light turns on for a split second together with the orange light Checked F1, F2 and EM8 with a multimeter, that seems to be ok. Also tried a working battery from an other GBA-SP. Really puzzled currently!
The power light is also randomly flashing, not constantly on. Check the voltage of the batteries compared to normal batteries. I read this elsewhere as well. Apparently, most rechargeables are 1.3v when normal batteries are 1.5v - I can't confirm if this is true as I've never looked but at least that is what I read.
