Hello everyone, I currently have a Seat Panda 4x2 that I am converting to 4x4 with fiat fire engine. I have bought an engine from Fiat Punto with reference 176B6000 which in theory corresponds to a 1.2 60hp SPI. The scrapyard sold it to me with wiring but without ECU and sold it to me as a 1.1 54hp but by reference it is a 1.2 60hp SPI. The ECU I was wondering if anyone can help with a problem that I have run into whilst attempting to change the timing belt on my wife's mk2 Punto 1.2 16v. I have done a fair bit of research so was fully armed with the Haynes manual, cylinder dowels and cam locking tools, and set to on the job. I got as far as removing the belt covers, top engine KriTip's 1.2 16V Sei Project Introduction Right, I've been planning and researching for ages on the forum and have always been tempted by an engine Forums New posts Featured threads Search forums Members list Members Map the 16v engines done use locking blocks? thought that was the HGT engine which is similar to alfa engine. and possibly 8v.. havent gone into 8v timing too much. but thought 16v were 2 locking pins that go into the side of the head to lock both cams, plus 2 rods which screw into cylinders 1+2 and have a moving centre part.. so you can see when level. My personal opinion is go for the 1.2 16v block, you have 50% of the work already done with the wiring and ECU already. I'm just finishing up doing my 1.2 16v swap taken out of a 2003 fiat stilo, if you find that engine then you don't even need to modify the engine mount to clear for the alternator belt (it's setup exactly the same way as the sei so no rub or even possible snagging on the belt). You recall incorrectly there are plenty of 16v actives Anyway it does sound like its speed sensor related, speed sensor as Ziggy pointed out feeds in to the steering to alter the rate of assistance depending on speed, obviously this also feeds into the dash for the speedo etc Your diagnostic machine might be able to read the engine ecu which may have picked up a fault with the vehicle speed YnLhQ.
